When mature these cacti produce color flowers which grow into edible fruits. Cacti thrive in direct sunlight but can also grow in medium light as well. Since they are indeginous to the desert areas cacti prefer a dry environment. Water your cacti once every week or two and be sure the pot completely dries out between waters to prevent root rot.
